Science: Associate Intern

06/09/2014 - 08/29/2014
internship
Santa Monica, CA
25Employees
Read More...

Science employs a 'studio' model to create, scale, and acquire digital businesses out of our shared space in Santa Monica. We are part incubator, part early-stage VC, part accelerator. Some companies that have come through Science include DollarShaveClub and DogVacay.

As an associate intern, you will do three primary things:

(1) Operational assistance at early stage portfolio companies. This could include general business analyst / intelligence work (reporting, analysis, modeling), assistance with business development, operational issues, product design, and marketing.

(2) Market / opportunity research. Science is always looking into new markets and as part of that, you would assist in helping the partner group gain an understanding of new markets. This includes competitive analysis, value chain analysis, market research, and primary research. Recent examples include bitcoin, autonomous drones, and luxury goods.

(3) Evaluate prospective ventures. Similar to a VC associate role, Science receives a significant number of inbound deals that we evaluate to varying degrees of formality. This includes meeting with entrepreneurs and research and evaluation similar to the previous category.

Please submit a simple application that includes:

(1) What kind of work would be the perfect work to keep you up all night, all summer, at Science -- we have a lot of things to do.

(2) What city you most want to visit and why.

(3) A resume / detailed LinkedIn profile.

This is for a role in Santa Monica, with potential to continue work through the school year.
