Ginkgo Bioworks: Programmer working on engineering biology
Ginkgo BioWorks is a young company out of MIT with the mission of making biology easier to engineer. We engineer organisms to address fundamental challenges the world is facing today. We aren't trying to study biology, we are trying to build it - constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house pipeline of synthetic biology technologies to design and build new organisms.
You will be working closely with our biological engineers to design and implement our computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) platform. Work includes programming robots to build metabolic pathways and new genomes, automate measurement processes, and implementing gene and pathway design algorithms. You don't need previous biology experience; Ginkgo is a great environment for amazing programmers to learn to hack biology.

Wham City Lights: Software Engineer | Embedded & Mobile | Signal Processing or EE Background
We are looking for a software engineer with some EE or DSP experience. Our app is activated when our customers play our modulated ultrasonic audio signal, through the client's sound system. During the event, audience members open our smartphone app, which "listens" for these audio signals. The audio signals trigger the phones to flash colors, display content, enable the camera flash, etc. This lights the entire audience in sync with the stage show.
Our ultrasonic audio signal's modulation scheme was developed in-house, and we're looking for someone with domain expertise to help us take it to the next level. You will work with our CTO to add spectacular new effects to our app light shows, as well as to improve the reliability and efficiency of our audio signal, in various noisy and constrained environments. You will be a key contributor to the technology's ability to create new paradigms for smartphones' use in group contexts.
Responsibilities: Work with our CTO to design robust, efficient, modulation schemes in the audio spectrum Draw on history, theory, as well as imagination, to conceive methods of using audio signals for multicast data transmission, geolocation, mesh networking, and more Implement, test, deploy, and maintain these algorithms on smartphones (using C/C++) Create diagnostic tools for troubleshooting signal issues at events Other engineering tasks as needed (we are a startup, after all!)

AdHarmonics: Quantitative Software Engineer
Quantitative Software Engineer - Python
AdHarmonics is seeking a Quantitative Software Engineer to work in our Cambridge, MA office. Quantitative Software Engineers are responsible for ensuring that AdHarmonics’ traffic teams have the analytics, automation, campaign tools and infrastructure to efficiently drive Internet traffic to our web properties. If you love to code algorithms, are good at math and statistics, and want to work with large quantitative data sets in order to draw conclusions, we’re looking for you!
We use computation develop systems that find opportunities and truth in data. We build feeds to ingest data from our traffic partners, internal systems, and our analysts. We work with our quantitative analysts to design and implement bidding systems using machine learning algorithms and campaign management systems. We provide new ways of looking at data. If we can automate a manual process, we build the automation.
Qualified candidates will work independently on developing new features for AdHarmonics’ Python-based machine learning, bidding, reporting and campaign management systems as well as modifying existing systems as needed.
This role will afford the right individuals the opportunities to work on challenging and interesting problems involving machine learning, large and complex data sets, high-volume traffic, and near-real-time feedback. Our production systems are built with Python and MySQL on Linux platforms with a Python API layer for access to our multi exabyte data warehouse. Candidates should show strong object-oriented design skills, fluency in common design patterns and working experience performing quantitative data analysis using Python and MySQL.
· Build new and extend existing traffic acquisition and analytic systems to improve consumer alignment and performance
· Work with traffic teams to develop and automate new and existing traffic acquisition strategies

Gillilayo is a start-up company developing products in the consumer technology space. It revolves around a central product of huge potential which will reinvent its category. A series of patents for the technology has been drafted, and filing of those documents will begin in October with the USPTO and international patent offices.
