Digital Lumens: (Senior) Electrical Engineer
We are looking for a talented EE with analog and digital skills. Someone who likes to make things. Someone who understands design. Someone who wants to see his or her work in mass production. Someone who wants to use their skills to reduce the world's energy consumption, rather than building baby-killing robots or something like that. Power electronics skills are a definite plus.
Located in downtown Boston, Digital Lumens is the leader in intelligent LED lighting for industrial and commercial markets. Our products integrate highly efficient power supplies, mesh networking, sensing, power monitoring, and smart controls to maximize energy savings in warehouses, factories, and more. We want to change the way people think about lighting. And we're a pretty cool group of people to work with.
RightBid: Lead Software Developer
RightBid is changing the way online retailers set prices. Our software enables online retailers to collect competitors’ prices from a variety of leading online shopping sites and utilize this data in setting prices. Research has shown that a retailer sees a 60% jump in sales for posting a lower price than a competitor on a comparison shopping site. Because large retailers manage tens or hundreds of thousands of products, keeping track of all these prices can be burdensome. We help online retailers find these opportunities and set smarter prices.
We are looking for an ambitious young programmer to take our software to the next level. We have implemented our software for four online retailers with a combined $100M in annual online revenue and are looking to make a big splash. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to help full-time in the following areas:
-Migrate our software from a desktop application to a web application.
-Reorganize our database systems.
-Improve the speed, reliability, and scale of our custom designed web crawlers.
-Make our software faster, stronger, and easier to use.
An ideal candidate will possess:
-A knack for problem solving
-A Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering
-Experience with database system design -Experience designing web applications
-Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Python, AWS, and C# a plus.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial candidate who is willing to commit to mastering all aspects of software development. Given that a successful candidate will become employee #2 for our company, this position will afford the opportunity to take significant leadership over future releases of our software and our overall vision for smarter pricing in e-commerce. A solid effort will lead to a substantial ownership stake in a growing startup.
RightBid was founded in the summer of 2012 and is based outside Manchester, NH—less than an hour drive from Boston. To learn more, check out www.rightbidretail.com.

We'd expect you: - to show initiative and make independent decisions - to take responsibility for long-term development roadmap - to hire other developers when the team needs to grow
If you have tried to build a startup in the past, whether successfully or not, that would be a big advantage.
If this opportunity sounds exciting to you, send us a brief note with a self-intro to: adrian@socialgrad.me. We look forward to building something great with you!
